But where did this tradition begin?

🌷 A Brief History of Mother’s Day

The origins of Mother’s Day trace back to ancient times. The Greeks and Romans held festivals honoring mother goddesses like Rhea and Cybele. But the modern holiday as we know it was born in the early 20th century in the United States.

In 1908, Anna Jarvis organized the first official Mother’s Day in West Virginia to honor her late mother’s work in women’s health and community care. By 1914, President Woodrow Wilson declared it a national holiday. Ironically, Anna later fought against the commercialization of the holiday, wishing it remained a deeply personal and heartfelt tradition.

So, as you browse for that perfect gift, remember—it’s not about how much you spend. It’s about how much love and intention you pour into it.
